Our Team of Experienced Addiction Professionals
Sunset House is here to support men on their recovery journey with a caring team and a structured environment that makes healing possible. No matter how tough things get, you won’t be alone. As a nonprofit that’s been doing this for over 28 years, we’re deeply committed to helping every individual find a path that works for them.
12-Step Approach
Sunset House’s rehab center often uses the 12-step approach. Initially developed for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), this approach encourages individuals to accept their powerlessness over addiction and work through a series of steps to help them recover. It relies on individual counseling, group therapy, and peer support to help you gain insight into your addiction and develop life-long tools for recovery.
12-Step Approach

Evidence Based Treatment Modalities
At Sunset House, we offer a comprehensive range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities designed to support long-term recovery. Our clinical team utilizes proven approaches tailored to the individual needs of men facing substance use and co-occurring disorders.
CBT helps individuals recognize and change negative patterns of thinking and behavior. Through this structured approach, clients learn to develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and reduce the risk of relapse.
REBT focuses on identifying irrational beliefs and replacing them with rational, constructive thoughts. This modality empowers clients to better manage their emotional responses and make more intentional choices in daily life.
MI is a client-centered approach that enhances motivation for change. By exploring ambivalence and building confidence, our therapists help clients find their own reasons to pursue and maintain sobriety.
Many men struggling with addiction have experienced trauma. Our trauma-informed approach ensures that all therapeutic practices are delivered with sensitivity, compassion, and an understanding of trauma’s impact on mental and emotional health.
We incorporate the principles of the 12-Step philosophy into our program to support spiritual growth, accountability, and peer connection. Clients are encouraged to participate in 12-Step meetings and explore the steps as a pathway to sustained recovery.
Our goal is to provide a supportive, individualized experience that addresses the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Through these integrated modalities, our clients gain the tools and insight needed to build a foundation for lasting recovery.

An outpatient approach at Meadows Counseling Center
Before starting residential treatment at the Sunset House campus, many of our clients recieve recovery through an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and other forms of outpatient care at Meadows Counseling Center in North Palm Beach. At this separate center, clients have access to one-on-one counseling and other resources to help them begin on the path of recovery. The Meadows Counseling Center outpatient approach allows clients to continue treatment while maintaining their work and life commitments.
Our resources for alumni
and their families in need of support
At Sunset House, we believe in supporting our alumni and families. As part of the Sunset House family, alumni are offered the opportunity to engage in recovery activities, such as alumni barbecues, outings, and speaking engagements. Families are offered comprehensive progress reports and the opportunity for family resources.
